Description

Vitis vinifera Muscat of Norway

Prohibited to OR, ID and NY.

Large clusters of medium-sized, purple red slipskin grapes with small seeds ripen very early and are wonderful eaten fresh or made into a fruity white or red wine. Also known as Black Muscat , it is one of the rare winemaking muscat cultivars with a dark skin color. Plants perform well in Pacific Northwest, since they need under 1600 GDD (Growing Degree Days) to ripen. Grows in USDA Zone 5-9. Ripens in Sept here in the PNW.

A grapevine can be both a highly productive source of fruit and a focal point of considerable beauty. Think carefully about where to plant one to provide shade, cover a wall or accentuate an arch. We offer grapes most of which will ripen even in areas with cool summers. The ripening dates listed are for the cooler parts of Western Washington, but most ripen sooner and thrive where summers are warmer.
